Race for the Cure

My wonderful Mother in law was recently diagnosed with breast cancer.  After the initial shock she has been courageously battling with chemo.  We feel disjointed being so far away but she is always in our prayers.  Last Saturday most of the kids and families took part in the Race for the Cure in SLC and did a 5K in honor of her.  I had to do a run anyways on Saturday, so we routed out a 5K plan, gathered the troops, got a baby sitter for Lydia and did our own 5K in her honor.

Rees and I ran about 2 miles of it then walked, Jared pushed Tagg in the stroller, and Luke and Darin rode their bike and scooter.  We did it!  I'm proud of our boys for taking on the challenge.  We love you grandma! 

This and That and Some

There have been some random things as of late.  Here are a few of our happenings...

Darin had a poem festival at school and recited Humpty Dumpty for everyone. 

Lydia finally got some pictures of just her.

The boys had Fine Arts Night at school where they perform and show off all the artwork they have done over the year.  They had some pretty cool stuff.

Darin's 6 Bday!

Darin turned 6 at the beginning of the month.  We can't believe it!  The weekend before we took him and some friends to the bounce house and had cookies.  Jared and I took him to McDs for his Bday dinner with mom and dad and then let him pick out a lego set.

On his actual Bday some of us were sick, so it wasn't too exciting.  He went to school and I brought treats.  The whole class sang to him and he loved the attention.  He played, opened presents and ate his Bday dinner of poppyseed chicken and strawberry jello.  Then ice cream cake!

Darin knows what he wants and loved planning his bday out.  He is very inquisitive, loves to learn, loves to play outside, loves to wrestle with big bros.  He is the one boy that will share anything he has with you just because he can.  And as his K teacher wrote on his progress report, "he has a twinkle in his eye."  He sure does and we love this boy!!

Angel Day

 Last week it had been 2 years since my nephew Beck passed from this Earth and became an Angel.  Every year his family with extended family get together to do a service project at the cemetery on his Angel Day.  To try to help the boys understand the importance of this event we did our own service project in our neighborhood of picking up trash, and talked about our nephew Beck.

The boys worked hard and we filled about 3/4 of a garbage bag.  We are grateful for the times we can serve as a family...and we are grateful for our nephew Beck and all that he can still teach us, even as an Angel.
